Frugal Decorating

Want to add some elegance to the house but don't have any extra money? Not a problem! You can create something really neat out of nothing! Simply dig out the Christmas bulbs and choose only the white frosted and one other color. For instance the gold one's or maybe the white and pink one's and place them in a nice glass or gold bowl. You'll keep going in just to look at it!

For an added touch, add a string of pearls (fake pearls will do;) and place some buttons around the dish.

This is all made from things lying around the house! The purple "table cloth" is an old over sized silk shirt, that I cut up so that it was just fabric and I laid it over the small table, then I clipped the buttons off and used them for decorations. The gold chain is from Peanut's jewelry box. The tulle is from, believe it or not... Belle's Sharpe Halloween Costume! LOL

When you want to decorate your house, look around and use your frugal imagination, you'd be surprised at all the things you have to work with, right in your house!

Stay tuned for the next installment of Frugal Decorating here at Snickerdoodles!

Halloween Humor

Tiger was quizzing me on the Halloween party costumes after dinner tonight...
If you watch I-Carly with your kids this is even funnier;)

He said, "Who was the robot?"

I thought a minute..., "Justin!"

He said, "Oh! You're right!"

"I'm good huh?!"

He said, "Mom, who was the mummy?"

I said, "Hmmmm....I don't know." ....

"Josh was."

I said, "I know who was dressed up as the Monopoly Man!"

He said, ...Josh's little brother!

I said, "I know! Who was the hobo?" (thinking for sure, I'd stumped him.)

He thought for a split second and said, "You are!"

ROFL!! I thought I'd die of laughter!

Love Initials-Birch Bark Vase

Isn't this just the neatest?! Love it! Love it! Love it! (No pun intended;) Do you remember carving your love intials and a heart into a tree, and going back years later to see them climb higher up the tree? Well now you can have you and your hubby's love initials carved into this tree bark vase and keep it all year round in a special spot in your house! Neat!

I found this while I was surfing on Etsy last night:) They were having a wedding feature on their main page and this was one of the items that was featured!

It's a birch bark vase, made completely out of birch bark from a fallen tree. It's in a cylinder shape, then they take an etching tool and etch your initials and a heart into the bark. When you recieve it, you take a small vase and place it inside the bark cylinder with flowers to finish! I can just see one of these in our bedroom! So neat:))

You can purchase one of these, at Little Retreats, Etsy shop for $40.00:) Custom designed and shipped to you, ready to place your anniversary flowers in! ;)

How to Play...Float the Balloon!

A fun winter game my kids discovered and like to play is called, "Float the Balloon!"

It's simple! You take a balloon that is only blown up about 2/3rds of the way and then put it over the blowing hot air that comes out of the heat ducts as it warms the house, an Whalaa! you're playing Float The Balloon! It floats in mid air all by itself! It's quite cool actually !!

You can only play this game in the winter because you need the heating vents to be on to do it and of course a bag of balloons and your own hot air;) Ha, ha!! And come back tomorrow for the next installment, of How to Beat the Winter Boredom Blues With Shredded Paper in a Kiddie Pool Smack Dab in the Middle of the Living Room.... ;) No really. That works! Okay, more on that later;)

Please excuse this picture, it's not the greatest, but it gives you the idea;)

Have fun!

When Face Painting Twins!

I have to share this funny story that happened today! I took the three girls to a grand opening in town and there was this little girl doing free face painting. Well, Scooter wanted her face painted first so she sits down and asks for a rainbow with a blue cloud on her cheek. The little girl paints Scooter's face and then I asked her if she might need a jacket? So she runs into the building to get a jacket... While she's gone for just a minute Scooter and Belle (they're identical) switch, and Belle sits down and Scooter stands. Well the little girl comes back takes one look at Belle with her face not painted, puts her hands on her face and totally GASPS! She thinks for a minute and says, "Oh Twins! I forgot!" LOL It was SO funny!! We were all laughing!

When face painting twins, watch out! ;)
